Hello, my name is Thorben. On the internet, I am probably better known as "Smartie" or "Smartiefox". I am 26 years old living in Germany.
Photography is a thing in my life for well over a decade now. I started with a small camera my parents gave me at least 15 years ago. At some point just "capturing the moment" in an almost documentary style was not enough for me anymore. Composition, color values, and harmony as well as different technics started to play a role. I am far from what I would call a professional, but at least I am more and more satisfied with the results of my photoshoots. With more experience and simultaneously increasing confidence, I experiment a lot lately. What I really love is the possibility to slow down a little, take the time to not only look for a new composition but also experience the moment. [When you lie in the bushes for 2 hours at -5°C to sneak towards some deer you get in fact a lot of opportunities to experience nature ;) ]
I am close to nature in general. My second outdoor activity besides photography is (wave)surfing, combined with some stand-up paddling.

my personal note of the month: Sometimes it might be a real challenge to get the motivation, but in the end, the stunning view pays for everything. It is this magical moment where the world stands still that keeps me motivated to always go for the next opportunity!
